We want to thank each of you for your support of the Center for Refugee Services’ work to provide our newest neighbors to San Antonio seasonal needs. This year we were surprised with a cool morning on September 10th, the earliest ever.
In August, we collected items to provide for about 350 backpacks. Many students are not actually going into the classroom yet, but they will be soon, and we want them ready for those cold trips to the bus stop in the morning.
We will now be collecting new and gently used coats, blankets, and shoes for our newest arrivals. Children’s items will be most appreciated as children grow each year. We will also accept warm sweaters, sweatshirts, long pants, and accessories (scarves, gloves, hats, new socks, etc.) We ask for no lightweight/ summer items. We thank you for your assistance!
Coat Drive Schedule for donors and volunteers
Donations are requested to be brought to

Sunday, October 11 from 2-6 pm
Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13
From 10 am to 3 pm (and Monday, October 12 from 6-8:30 pm).
Volunteers are needed during this time to receive and sort.
The distribution will be done

Wednesday October 14 through Friday,
October 16 from 10 am to 3 pm
Volunteers are needed to assist families and keep items organized.
